She regularly conducts rhythm guitar and improvisational singing workshops for middle, high and college students. She also offers private lessons in these areas and teacher her students how to develop their skills.
Her improvisational singing workshops allow students become more at ease with embellishing, enhancing, and altering melody, rhythm or phrase to express feeling, message, and communication through one’s voice. Through her techniques, students develop the skills necessary for scat singing.
Her rhythm guitar workshops are based on the principles she writes about in the first-of-its-kind books, 8 Easy Right Hand Guitar Styles and 8 Easy Right Hand Guitar Groves. The workbooks are used as text for music therapy students at several universities including the University of Iowa, Berkley School of Music in Boston, Queens University in North Carolina.
In the books and in her workshops, Allison transforms a music experience or a music therapy session into an engaging interaction for all participants.
